How The International 2022 will play out

The International has 12 qualifying teams through the Dota 2 Pro Circuit. Another set of six teams will make it to the competition via the Regional Qualifiers with each region having one more team to join the contest. Two more teams will also have the chance to make it through the Last Chance Qualifier.

This was followed by the Dota 2 TI 11 group stages held from October 15th to 18th, 2022. All 20 teams are split into two groups with ten squads each. The top four teams from each group earned their ticket to the upper bracket of the main event while the fifth to eighth teams were sent to the lower bracket of the main event. The bottom two teams of each group are eliminated from the contest for good.

Schedule of matches

The Dota 2 The International main event is set to be played from October 20th to 23rd and October 29th to 30th, 2022. All 16 teams will play in a double elimination series bracket and each stage removes one team from the competition all the way to the final. The Dota 2 TI 11 schedule sees each team playing a set of games that will give them a chance to proceed to the final.

Bracket system

Teams in the lower bracket will play a total of six games all the way to the lower bracket final. Four losing teams in the first round of the upper bracket will have a second chance in their campaign and will play in the second round of the lower bracket. Winners of both brackets will make it to the Grand Final and will play in a best of five series.

What happened in The International group stages?

The group stages were full of Dota 2 TI 11 highlights that a lot of fans enjoyed. There are many teams that pulled off huge upsets and crushed the hopes of some of the favourites to win in Dota 2 TI 11.

Some fans claim that the group stages showed the world that Dota remains the most hyped game in all of esports, and the storylines that are expected to unfold show that there is indeed more to look out for in various games in the competition.

Here’s what happened in the group stages of The International 2022:

Hokori’s big upset campaign

Hokori was one of the surprise teams that came up with a promising finish in the group stages. Fans were pleased with the way they played against the likes of Royal Never Give Up and the Soniqs. On top of that, forcing draws against teams such as the Evil Geniuses and PSG.LGD was a huge feat that no one expected so far.

Team Spirit’s collapse and second chance

Team Spirit was the main favourite to win in the TI11, but their recent runs saw them only win one game, which was against Entity. The rest of their games ended in a 1-1 draw except for a lone loss to Tundra Esports. This just shows the possibility of the defending champs playing The International main event games in the lower bracket.

OG’s disappointing performance in the group stages

OG was another contender that a lot of fans expected to make a huge finish in the group stages. While they aren’t that far behind the lead teams, OG’s four wins were a tough break as they were having a good run back in the Dota Pro Circuit. They still have a chance to make up for their poor performance in the coming main event matches.

PSG.LGD sets up an upper bracket campaign again

The runners-up for TI 10 managed to stay on the prowl in the competition. PSG.LGD finished with a 4-4-1 record, with their four wins coming against BOOM Esports, OG, Royal Never Give Up, and Soniqs. Fans are expecting them to show up all the way to the final with the hopes of settling an unfinished business in the competition.

Which players shined the best in the group stages?

There are a lot of Dota 2 TI 11 players who proved themselves well in the group stages. Most of these are the carry players known to lead their squads towards improved finishes and performances on the fly.

Puppey’s heroics leading Team Secret’s surge

Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov is one of the most prolific stars in Dota 2, and his leadership with Team Secret has been the key for their impressive stretch in the group stages. Their only loss in the first eight games was to Tundra Esports, and all of their wins have been thanks to Puppey’s strong roster management with the squad’s heroes.

Skiter’s new groove with Tundra Esports’ majestic run

Just like how Puppey managed to lead the way for Team Secret, Tundra Esports’ Oliver ‘skiter’ Lepko proved to be a crucial part of their success. The top team for group B has been making waves in the group stage, and it has been skiter’s improved carry role that made it all possible at this point, making them one of the surprise favourites to win.

Who will win Dota 2 TI 11’s main event

There are a lot of Dota 2 TI 11 predictions out on the internet. Fans and pros are making their calls and taking their picks on who will come out on top. However, it is safe to say that the Evil Geniuses’ group stage run has proven to be impressive and promising, which only proves that they are the main favourites to seal the deal.

Both OG, Team Liquid, PSG.LGD, Team Secret, and Tundra Esports are all expected to make a strong finish in their games as well. While only one team will come out on top, fans can hope to see more exciting matches between them as the competition ensues.
