2023 US Open schedule and format

The US Open will be held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the venue for this event since 1978. The 2023 edition will be played from August 28 to September 10, 2023.

This event is played on a hard outdoor surface which can be jarring to some because most people are used to seeing a clay court from the previous Grand Slam with the French Open.

The US Open is divided into five primary championships which are men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. For the singles, there is a single-elimination bracket of 128 players while the doubles events have 64 partnerships in a similar bracket.

The player or duo that wins their match advances to the next round. This knockout bracket lasts until the final where there will be two players or duos left to duke it out to be named US Open champions.

US Open tennis betting tips to earn solid payouts

Every time you place bets, some tips can help you be more consistent with winning some solid payouts. Newcomers and experts benefit from reading tips they can implement when they place their bets to avoid common blunders. Here are those useful tips:

Identify the best playstyles for the US Open

Tennis players have distinct playstyles that work out for them, leading to immense success. Most players will have styles like being aggressive baseliners or a serve-and-volleyer. Certain styles match up well against each other so learn to distinguish them to get a leg up on most bettors.

When you identify those proven players and playstyles, you can get stellar results from the wagers you are making. Keep a close eye on the matches to understand which players you can place a bet on to win.

Observe the biggest names in the tournament

The best players have a strong influence on the rest of the field. Novak Djokovic is the biggest name in the field but you should also take note of other players who can keep up with his talent at the top of the field. Make sure you see the big names because they will be constantly in the betting markets and knowing them can help you make bets easier.

Look at how certain players perform on the hard surface

The US Open is played on a hard surface which can be challenging to play on. Of course, most players struggle more on clay since that is notoriously difficult to run across. However, that does not mean hard surfaces are particularly easier to play on because they can still be too slippery for some players.

Players do have more of a natural grip on the hard surface but it is accepted by most tennis pros that grass is the best surface and the most common surface they train on.

How do the odds help you win your US Open bets?

The odds are important to take note of since they can help you make well-informed decisions for your bets. These numbers provide the likely and unlikely options. Besides providing context for the possible outcomes, you can also use these odds to determine the potential payout you get with your bet.

Here at Gamdom, you have multiple types of odds to choose from which you can cycle through by going to the right side of the sportsbook and clicking the settings drop-down menu. There will be another drop-down menu for odds where you can see these types:

• Decimal
• American
• Hong Kong
• Malaysian
• Indonesian
• Fractional

The favourites to win the 2023 US Open

For both the men and women at the US Open, there are some specific players who stand out as the biggest names in the tournament. You have to take note of these and their position in the US Open tennis betting lines because you can expect these names to still be in the tournament in the final days.

US Open Men’s favourites

Despite the dominance of the Big Three of Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal, the tennis world has improved to the point that people are catching up. Here are the male stars in the US Open:

• Carlos Alcaraz: The young man who beat Nole at the French Open, Alcaraz has shown he has the potential to be one of the all-time greats. He loves playing with aggression but he can also drop back and play more of a methodical approach. That is what makes him such a dangerous matchup to any player because he always finds ways to adapt to his opponent.
• Holger Rune: The young Rune’s playstyle is built around a powerful serve and he can always return the ball with his exceptional movement. Rune is arguably the most energetic player in men’s tennis and his opponents struggle because of his pace and power even in the later stages of a match.
• Daniil Medvedev: At a staggering 6’6”, Medvedev can cover the court in just a few strides. On a hard surface, Dannil is more comfortable as he can balance himself and use his entire body to make power hits which is a good fit for an event like the US Open.

US Open Women’s favourites

The competition has been wide open for women over the past few years. This event is much of the same because some stars can shine like the usual favourites but you can also expect someone unknown to the general public to stand out. Here are those favourites you can expect to have good performances:

• Iga Świątek: The defending US Open champion, she wants to retain her title at this event. Iga is extremely fast and when combined with her signature powerful hits with tons of spin on the ball, she is a difficult opponent for anyone facing her.
• Aryna Sabalenka: Aryna is a baseliner who relies on powerful serves and groundstrokes. She loves overpowering opponents which you should expect at this event, especially on a hard surface where she can be lighter on her feet.
• Elena Rybakina: Just like the previous player, Rybakina loves playing on the baseline and her primary weapon is her serve. However, she also gets aggressive with how she finishes points at the net which she developed during her doubles career.
