Visa seeks crypto developers BTC price falls to almost 27K dollars

Visa, the global leader in electronic payments, is expanding its crypto team and is in need of experienced backend developers who are familiar with public blockchains and stablecoins. This includes engineers that are passionate about Web3.

The openings were announced through Twitter by Cuy Sheffield, Visa's vice president. Sheffield claimed the roles would hasten the widespread adoption of cryptographic methods. Visa is looking for people who have experience developing and debugging smart contracts using AI-assisted engineering tools like GitHub Copilot as well.

According to the job listing, expertise with testing frameworks like Truffle, Mocha, and Hardhat is preferred. They should also be familiar with the ETH blockchain, the new ERC-4337 standard for ETH accounts, and security protocols. Following the February 2023 bankruptcy of several high-profile companies in the crypto ecosystem, Visa denied rumours that it will suspend its crypto activity. 

Sheffield stated on Twitter that the company's stance on the potential of crypto has not changed. He also claimed that it will continue to collaborate with crypto startups to provide fiat on and off-ramps. 

To prove that the company is integrating crypto into their system, Visa has also explored the feasibility of enabling the exchange of digital assets for fiat payments, similar to the company's current currency conversion offerings.

BTC price falls to almost $27K

In April 2023, Bitcoin’s price remained at its recent lows, below $28,000. According to CoinDesk, the market cap leader BTC was trading at $27,350, down 0.4%. After hovering above $30,000 for a week, BTC began a sharp decline on April 21, 2023, falling below $28,000 for the first time in two days. BTC was trading for close to $27,100 at one time. 

Bitcoin expert Sam Callahan told CoinDesk that the recent decline in BTC's price can be seen as a healthy correction after shooting beyond $30,000 in a few months. ‘In light of the recent turmoil experienced by the banking sector, BTC’s appeal as an asset without counterparty risk has never been more compelling’, he added. 

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the group in charge of monetary policy and manages daily open market operations is set to have a meeting and investors are waiting with bated breath. There is also a huge chance that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates by 25 basis points (BPS) according to the CME FedWatch Tool.

‘The increased chance of the Federal Reserve holding higher interest rates for longer appears to have caused some concern among traders’, Callahan mentioned.
