Playing It Right: CSGO Game Modes

Playing It Right: CSGO Game Modes

CSGO game modes are really fun to play especially if players learn to pick the right one to enjoy their time in playing the Valve shooter game.

Playing It Right: CSGO Game Modes

Playing CSGO is a lot fun especially if players know which mode they really want. There are many different modes in the game, but then players tend to work their way around and try them out. It is vital for players to know how these modes work so that they can enjoy the game.

Counter-Strike originally began with two modes. The first was to secure a location and plant or defuse a bomb and the next is to secure or guard hostages. There are many modes to play in CSGO, and that is why it is vital for players to know which one they will choose

As many years passed, the game saw a lot of changes when it came to graphics, game design, weapons, maps and many more. Among those changes were the game modes, which went from bomb planting all the way to the complex versions we know today.

The Valve shooter game has hooked a lot of players into the fold. Aside from the free CSGO skins that were offered in the later versions, there were many players who loved the new game modes that came into play with CSGO’s release.

Of course, there are plenty of ways to win a single round. The first is to plant or defuse the bombs, while the other is to either take out all the players from the opposing team, and the last one is to run out the clock depending on the mode.

Players can choose up to three types of maps that have different goals in winning. This is where the game modes were drafted.

Early Map Types

Bomb maps are the most popular type of modes in the early days of CS. The Terrorists must plant a bomb on a set spot on the map. There are always two bomb sites that they can choose from, and this is why it was a tricky game back then.

The Terrorists must also block out any attempts from the Counter-Terrorists to defuse the bomb. If a bomb is defused, CT wins a round, but Terrorists win if the bomb blows. However, CTs can also win the round if they manage to keep the Terrorists at bay and run out the clock with no bomb blowing up.

Another map type is hostage rescue. This mode allows CTs to rescue certain hostages that will win them the round after that. It also comes with a cash bonus depending on how many hostages can the team deliver in the round.

Terrorists must find a way to prevent the CTs from taking any single one of the hostages. They have to either take out the rest of the opposing team and at least try to keep the hostages at their spots. They can also win by running out the clock with no hostage rescued.

The last mode available back then was assassination. This was known as one of the best map types since it puts one player on the CT side to play as the VIP. The rest of the squad has to work together and help bring him to a set safe zone on the map.

The Terrorists will have to fight their way and take out the VIP at all costs. The round ends with the VIP killed even if the rest of the CT squad still lives. It can also end in favour of the Terrorists if the VIP fails to reach the safe zone in time.

Since then, Valve worked on creating unique game modes to attract more players into the fold. When CSGO made its launch back in August 2012, the game featured so many changes compared to the past versions, including the free CSGO skins and new game modes that were later on loved by the community.

CSGO’s New Game Modes

CSGO has a total of eight official game modes. This includes Competitive mode, Casual and Deathmatch, Arms Race and Demolition. In addition, there were certain modes added with set specifications, such as Wingman, Flying Scoutsman, Weapons Course and Danger Zone.

Competitive mode is the default game experience since it is the common mode played over the years. It sees a total of five players in two teams squaring off each other in a total of 30 rounds. Most players have a skill rank based on an Elo rating system and are always lined up with the players who have the same rank as they do.

This mode also puts players in a match that lasts for almost 45 minutes. It is almost similar to Team Deathmatch and can also be considered as a free-for-all mode where players have a lot of options in their games.

Casual and Deathmatch modes are a little bit similar to the competitive mode. However, this mode is a less serious one since there is no friendly fire in this type. It can be seen as a practice round for players who just started to learn the ropes of CSGO.

It allows players to take a chill stroll in the same way that competitive mode does, only without much pressure when it comes to winning rounds. This is why it is very favourable for many players who are aiming to play in competitive mode soon.

Arms Race is very much similar to the Gun Game mode that was seen back in the early days of CS. It gives players a handgun to start with and then reward them with better weapons the more they can kill opponents in a match.

Demolition is partnered with Arms Race as both were based on prior mods in the past versions of the Valve shooter game. This mode offers players a chance to play bomb mode where they either plant or defuse the explosives and get handsome rewards and upgrades on their weapons if they take out an enemy in the past round.

Wingman works like the same with Demolition. The only difference is that this pits two teams with only two players. This is played with 15 rounds and is very much hard to play since only one player can carry the bomb with the other trying to escort him all the way to a bomb site.

Flying Scoutsman was a favourable mode for those who look to have fun. This gives players with an SSG 08 and a knife to use. The only twist here is that they will have to fight in zero gravity, making it hard to aim and balance shots in the whole round. That is why there are so many players who love to play this mode.

Weapons Course is for players who are looking for a fresh start in CSGO. This is almost an online practice mode where players can work on their gun selection and also take time in learning some key skills and tricks in the game.

Lastly, Danger Zone is somewhat similar to the PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds where players are on their own. It works like a scavenger hunt where players have to start with just knives. They can pick up certain weapons, ammunition and money as they scour the map for resources.

Since then, CSGO has made their tactics clear in keeping the shooter game relevant over the years. When Valve dropped the skin and sticker update, most CSGO fans were very much eager to play the game more.

Those innovations proved that CSGO is very much a game to remember. It is the lead game that many players have enjoyed over the years and it still carries the same element that the base game in 2002 had.

How CSGO Maintained Its Fanbase

Thanks to the game modes, CSGO clearly had the upper hand among many shooter games that tried to take away its throne as the best of its kind in the industry. The success that CSGO had over the years has allowed Valve to come up with bright ideas to keep the interest alive in many players.

This is why there is so much to expect when it comes to game modes. CSGO has always been an interesting game to play, and that is why it still thrives despite having so much competition over the years.

The big titles such as Call of Duty, Medal of Honor and even Battlefield failed to take over CSGO’s spot as the FPS king. Even so, the competitive shooters that rose over the years, such as PUBG, Rules of Survival and Fortnite have failed to take over as well.

The only threat that remained up to date is Valorant, which is one of the newest shooter games with a competitive design. However, CSGO remains steadfast even with the recent Majors pulling off a huge success. This is why CSGO is still the best shooter game out there.

Over the years, CSGO has listened well to the demands of its fans. One can say that the game modes were a great touch on how they wanted to bring the community closer to the game. There are many reasons why many players still held onto the Valve shooter, and that includes the game modes that have shaped the FPS scene for years.

CS has come a long way since 2002. It is one of the most popular games in the world, and it is easy to say that it has succeeded in planting a franchise that many players have loved over the years.
