Online bingo basics: What to expect and how to play

Bingo is an easy game category to learn, but it can be intimidating at first glance. If you’re new to the game, then you could be overwhelmed with the interface on display as soon as you launch any game in the category.

Here’s the fundamental how to play bingo online guide you need and what to look for in a bingo game:

What’s in a bingo game: Game mechanics and elements

The first step to understanding a game is to know how it works. When you open any bingo game, you’ll be presented with several familiar items like the following:

• Cards: These are the biggest visual elements in the game. There are four of them active by default, and they have a 5x3 layout. Each column is labelled B.I.N.G.O. sometimes, but many online versions don’t have them. Either way, each column carries a random combination of numbers within a specified range.
• Balls: They show what numbers were selected, and the game automatically marks them from your cards. These represent the numbers drawn randomly during each round and help form patterns on your cards.
• Play button: Just like with slot games, online bingo has one interactive button that you can press called the ‘play button’. This is usually found in the bottom centre of the screen, but some games put them on the left. Click it to place a bet and start a new round where you draw 30 numbers.
• Total play: The total play found in the menu near the play button shows how much you’re paying for a round. How much you’re paying depends on how many cards you’re playing with and the base price of each one.
• Change cards: This is a randomizer button near the play button. Click it, and the game uses a random number generator (RNG) to change the numbers in your open tickets.
• Manage cards: It is usually found next to the change cards button. Clicking on it lets you choose which cards to keep or remove. Using this feature, you can set how many cards you’re going to pay for each round, which also affects your chances of winning.

How to win bingo: The main objective

The objective in bingo is to form a pattern on any card using the random numbers drawn per round. Your payout depends on two factors, namely, the size of your ante per card and the online bingo winning odds of the pattern you successfully formed. Most games use common winning patterns, and you can read more about them in this guide to online bingo odds.

How to play online bingo: step-by-step

Here’s a quick step-by-step online bingo guide to show you the flow of the game:

1. Decide how many cards you want to play with using ‘manage cards’.
2. Click on ‘change cards’ until you find a combination you like.
3. Set the total play or total bet to the ante size you want.
4. Click ‘play’ to pay the ante and draw your numbers.
5. Get paid as soon as a pattern is formed on any of your active cards.

If any of your cards have an incomplete combination missing just one number, then the game can offer you to buy an extra ball. You can purchase up to 14 extra balls, but each comes at a cost. How much they’re worth depends on the value of the pattern that you can potentially form.

Winning strategies for online bingo betting

Online bingo follows rules similar to those of slots and table games. This is useful because it means you can use a variety of strategies in this category that work for others. Here are some easy online bingo tips to follow if you need some help getting started:

Decide on a bankroll and betting unit

The bankroll refers to your total budget to spend on a game, a session, or a period. Most gamblers decide their bankroll every month. If you wish to follow this model, then that means you cannot lose this much money until the next month’s first day begins.

From that bankroll, take an arbitrarily small percentage (1% to 5% recommended). That will be your betting unit, a useful bet-tracking method if you prefer to log your progress. Likewise, it also works well in tandem with any online bingo strategy.

Use a betting system or bankroll management method

Betting systems or bankroll management methods refer to disciplines dictating your next step in online betting. One of the reasons online bingo is popular, besides its high-quality production from the best software providers, is its consistent odds. You can use betting methods meant for other kinds of games like the Martingale betting method.

Be mindful of what system you choose, though, because the volatility in bingo is extremely high. Your highest odds of winning are in 15 numbers, only reaching up to 0.0059. That’s a low number compared to table games, which most systems are designed for. However, it’s a tactical risk because the lowest-paying pattern pays 2:1, which works with most strategies.

Adjust your odds and risks by adding or removing cards

Never forget that the risk and odds of winning are in your hands. If you think the total play size is too big, then consider removing some cards from your menu. It lessens your chances to win, but it also charges you less per round. Likewise, you can get all 4 cards and pay for better chances to win.

It’s important to consider your personal preference in this part of the bingo game. Online bingo games offer you options to adjust your experience to ensure that you can enjoy it to the fullest. Your payout size won’t be affected because it pays you per card.

The top bingo games to play at Gamdom

Gamdom offers all kinds of bingo games to suit different preferences. Some are more popular than others, which are great titles to start with if you’re a beginner who doesn’t know what to expect yet.

Here are the top suggestions from Gamdom:

Bingote

*Note: Ticket means cards in the context of Games Global bingo games.

Bingote is an online bingo game inspired by the story of Don Quixote, but the titular mascot character is Don Bingote. It follows his pursuit of valour as a self-proclaimed knight, battling windmill monsters and wooing maidens in their castle. It has features like a wild ball that can substitute for missing numbers in a winning pattern.

There are three Bingote bonuses to unlock by collecting shields when you’re playing with 4 active tickets. Here’s how each one works:

• Armour: This is a pickers bonus game where Don Bingote’s armour is laid out. Select a piece and uncover the hidden prize.
• Windmills Monsters: Three monsters stand before Don Bingote, and each one has a hidden prize. Click on any of them to find and collect a sign, then end the game.
• Diamantea’s Castle: Don Bingote stands outside of Diamantea’s Castle, and you choose one of the four windows. Uncover a window and claim the hidden prize behind it.

Bingo Pescaria

Bingo Pescaria is a bingo game themed around a fisherman gleefully casting his line on a boat near the docks. However, he’s unknowingly doing it above waters where treasures are buried and protected by a giant octopus. Help him reel in riches with every bet right here.

There are two bonus modes in Bingo Pescaria, which you can trigger by hitting the associated patterns. Here’s what you can get and how they work:

• Open a treasure chest: You are presented with five closed treasure chests. Choose one of them and claim its riches inside.
• The octopus has a special prize for you: An octopus holds five bags of cash. Choose any of them and claim the hidden prize within.

Billion Llama

If you’re looking for a chill experience with a big maximum payout, then check out Billion Llama. This game comes with simple visuals of an anthropomorphic llama on a vacation in Hawaii. Play the game and join his misadventures for a chance to win a big payout.

The game has two bonus modes. Here’s what you need to know about the features of Billion Llama:

• Surfboard fails: The first stage will have you choose between three surfboards, and the revealed number is the number of fails you get. Stage 2 is a picker bonus game where you choose as many statues as possible. Reveal the same number of losses as the failures you got from stage 1 to the end of the game, but the accumulated value from winning statues is your payout.
• Shark roll: This is a much more straightforward picker game with high online bingo odds. You choose one of five swirls to reveal an item. The hidden prize is a multiplier to be applied to your bet at the end of the bonus round.
