How are online craps played?

Before learning how to bet craps and the best craps bets you can make, you first need to learn how online craps are played. By knowing what to do and how a round of crap goes, you’ll be able to bet wisely and make the right moves.

To get you started on playing online craps betting, here’s a step-by-step guide on how the game plays out:

• Start of the game → At the start of the game, the player who will throw the dice is called the ‘shooter’. It is also the first player who should place a bet before the first roll.
• Come-out roll → The come-out roll is the first roll made by the shooter. Bettors on the Pass Line will collect their winnings if the resulting roll is a 7 or 11. Those who bet on the ‘Don't Pass Line’ will collect their winnings if the dice roll a 2, 3, or 12.
• Point round → After setting a point, the shooter keeps throwing until they roll the point again or a 7. If the shooter rolls the point, players who bet on the Pass Line win. Bettors on the 'Don't Pass' line win if the shooter rolls a 7. Once the current round ends, a new one will start.
• Betting → During the point round, players have the option of placing extra craps bets such as come and don't come, place, field, and proposition bets.
• End of the game → The game ends when the player decides to quit or when they have used all their funds. The shooter also has the option to pass the dice to the next player if they don’t want to continue.

Types of bets in online craps

To play online craps effectively, it’s important to learn the different types of craps bets and how they work. To give you an idea of some of the best bets on craps, here are craps bets explained:

Pass line and don’t pass bets

These are the most common bets in craps and it is standard for shooters to make one of these two bets before the come-out roll. For the pass line bet to win, the come-out roll must be a 7 or 11. If the number is 2, 3, or 12, your bet loses.

Come and don’t come bets

These bets are the same as the pass line and don’t pass bets except that these wagers must be placed after the point has been established rather than before. In come and don’t come bets, if the shooter rolls a seven or eleven, the come bet wins. Meanwhile, if the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12, the come bet loses.

Place win and place lose bets

Wager 'place win' bets after the come-out throw and after the point has been completed. You can wager on 4, 5, 6, 8, or 9.  If the number you bet on is less than seven, you win the bet and the payout ratios depend on the particular number. For instance, if you bet on the number six or eight, the payout ratio is 7:6. If you bet on the number five or nine, the payout ratio is 7:5.

Buy bet

A buy bet is similar to a place win bet wherein you bet whether or not the shooter will roll a certain number. In this bet, you will receive higher payouts but will be charged a 5% commission. If you bet on a six or eight, you will be paid out at a ratio of 6:5. On the other hand, you will win with a ratio of 3:2 if you bet on a five or nine.
