Working the Game: CGSO Profile Ranks

CSGO has proven to be one of the best shooter games in the world that gives players the fine feeling of being in actual combat. From skins to new weapons, the game has shown a lot of great changes and that has been the reason why CSGO continues to thrive in the industry.

There are a lot of players all over the world who have clearly joined the hype since it was launched back in 2012. While CSGO continues to grow in terms of popularity and even in graphics and gameplay experience, Valve has met a lot of demands from the fans and even gave a lot of upgrades to the game as well.

Since the start, the 1998 version of the game thrived and was considered as one of the early pioneers of the Esports industry. This led to the other versions that Valve made to feed their fans and it was well-received in the long run. Still, CSGO needed to match that level of popularity, and the game did its job more than one might have expected.

CSGO introduced a lot of new stuff for fans to feast on. The first were those new weapons that were upgraded from the early versions of the game. Then came along the free CSGO skins and stickers that led the revolution in the gaming community as it changed the way it is played.

One of the biggest changes that was done in CSGO was the launch of the profile ranks. It was first introduced in May 2015 along with the Operation Bloodhound. The update served as a cosmetic form of changing a player’s status on official servers.

It allowed players to grind a rank and earn a lot of insignia’s to show off to their friends. This has nothing to do with the matchmaking rank. It is based solely on the XP you gain and the amount of time that one has spent in playing the game. Unlike in matchmaking rank, players don’t get demoted on their profile rank.

What is a Profile Rank?

Players rank up by earning XP points from their games played on the official servers. The first time you rank up, a free weapon drop is also given to reward you for your gaming time. Before Operation Hydra was released, the op pass holders were allowed to get some exclusive rewards to the op’s weapon collections as long as they are active.

Players who are in the Overwatch program can also earn a lot of extra XP. Although the rank is another thing from the player’s skill group, a profile of Private Rank 2 is needed to get a shot at competitive gaming. Take note that a rank will never affect the player’s ability to join in casual game modes.

There are over 40 ranks in CSGO, and the player has every chance to reset the profile rank back to the start. After reaching rank 40, players can get a service medal but will reset the rank in return. That does not mean that players will have to rank up again to play in competitive games.

The CSGO profile ranks are as follows:

  • Recruit rank 1
  • Private rank 2
  • Private rank 3
  • Private rank 4

Earning XP

After a match is over, XP points will be given to players. Leaving early will not award any points, so make sure you finish every game to get the most points. The XP bar will appear at the bottom of the scoreboard after every round.

XP appears in different colours. Current XP is at dark blue, while the Earned XP and Weekly XP bonus appear as a green bar. The Mission XP is set as a dark yellow bar. These are all with small pieces of text beneath them and show different XP types along with the calculation method.

The amount of XP that players earn will vary depending on how well they play in a match. There is always a multiplier and it differs on every game mode used. In competitive matches, the player score is not used for the multiplier.

The max amount of XP that a player can earn is at 1,000 points on casual mode. That should give you an idea how the multiplier works as there are different modes in the game. Multipliers change depending on how many XP you have earned in the running week.

Also, take note that you cannot earn XP points when playing with bots only, even if they are set on the highest difficulty level. It only needs one human player at the very least to allow XP points in the server. There are also bonus boosts for XP points, and using them to your advantage could prove to be rewarding should you have the chance.

There are a lot of changes over the years, but the use of the profile ranks have remained the same. That means you can stay relevant in the game and brag the rank you have with your friends while you enjoy the game.
