The team has already fallen short of a sweep against the Los Angeles Angels, and they are eager to keep on winning in their next games.

Boston hopes to keep its push going and stay on the prowl for the playoffs as well.

Oakland Athletics

Oakland has simply found its groove in the nick of time, going four for six in the last week. They have defeated both the Red Sox and Twins to hold on to the top spot in the American League West. Matt Chapman has really done it all for the team and has batted .317/.389/.460 over his last 72 plate runs since April 28. 

His season slash line is at .152/.281/.329 since April 27 and despite having a slow start due to an injury, Chapman found his late form and continues to guide the team to success.

San Diego Padres

While the team almost saw a depleted roster due to the pandemic, the Padres still found a way to produce some key wins and top off other teams. With both Fernando Tatis Jr. and Wil Myers on the bench, the club has proved that they have a stronger depth thanks to their supporting cast.

The team has won seven of their last seven all while playing a total of 39 players in 42 games. Yu Darvish has stepped up his game and continues to be the guiding force for the club.

Houston Astros

The Astros have been efficient after winning nine of its last 11 games dating back to May 6. They have really thrived well this season and they are pushing for a run at the top of the American League West. There are some doubts on how the team could actually secure a push to the World Series but their recent games keep on answering that back.

The pitching staff has also been questioned but their offence is doing well so far and they are taking the load for an overall +56 run differential. That ranks as the second-best among all 30 teams in the Major league.

San Francisco Giants

Alex Wood stayed unbeaten after the team held down the Pirates to one run in over six innings to close out the season finale in Pittsburgh. The Giants claimed a 4-1 win in that game and then followed up a 6-3 rout of the Reds on the next day.

The team has done well with a massive starting rotation that continues to surprise the rest of the league. Wood now has 1.75 ERA - a mark that is the lowest among all Giants pitchers through six starts since Madison Bumgarner made the feat and posted a 1.55 ERA in his first six matches in 2013.

St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals have scored a win in 15 of their last 20 games before their eventual series sweep at the hands of the Padres. In three losses, the Cardinals pitching lineup has issued a total of 26 walks, which is the most by any squad in a three-game series since 1900. 

This pitching staff has a combined 4.63 BB/9 - the worst mark for any team in the MLB. Some say that a return from Miles Mikolas would spark the team’s hopes once more.

Both the Tampa Bay Rays and the Los Angeles Dodgers have been quiet this season with a few struggles. The two leading teams of the 2020 season might still have a chance to bounce back in the season as the league gears up for the second half.
