Gamdom: The best Dota 2 teams of competitive season 2024
The Dota 2 esports scene is now in its second season of the Electronic Sports League (ESL). There were a few changes from the first season, giving 2024 a breath of fresh air. The first major tournament of the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) begins in February but fans can already guess which teams are likely to dominate this season.
The most important factor in determining a team’s likelihood of success is the collective skill level of its members. That includes the players in the active Dota 2 rosters filling all five positions as well as the coach guiding them in their training. With these in mind, Gamdom has determined which are the top 3 teams of every region.

Top 3 ranking teams in Southeast Asia (SEA) & Oceania
In the diverse and vibrant Dota 2 esports landscape, Southeast Asia (SEA) and Oceania emerge as hotbeds of talent, fostering competitive gaming scenes that captivate enthusiasts worldwide. Here are the three teams that you should know of:
Talon Esports
It’s unusual for a Southeast Asian (SEA) esports team to make it to TI but Talon Esports made it while also performing well at the DreamLeague Season 20. They were a Hong Kong organisation established in 2017 and was restructured and moved in 2021 to the Philippines.
| Coach | Johan ‘Pieliedie’ Åström |
| Position 1 | Eljohn ‘Akashi’ Canonigo Andales |
| Position 2 | Ng ‘ChYuaN’ Kee Chyuan |
| Position 3 | Chung ‘Ws’ Wei Shen |
| Position 4 | Tri ‘Jhocam’ Kuncoro |
| Position 5 | Pang ‘Ponyo’ Sze Xuan |
Blacklist International
Blacklist International is far from contending with Talon Esports even in the same region. The team has experience in the tier 1 space throughout their run since they debuted in 2020 but they haven’t performed well in international events. On tier 2 levels, however, they are consistently within the upper brackets.
| Coach | Kim ‘DuBu’ Doo-Young and Arjay ‘Papadom’ Domdom |
| Position 1 |
|
| Position 2 | Abed ‘Abed’ Yusop |
| Position 3 | Kim ‘Gabbi’ Villafuerte Santos |
| Position 4 | Timothy ‘TIMS’ Randrup |
| Position 5 | Juan ‘Carlo’ Carlo Chua Manalo |
Bleed Esports
Bleed Esports is a Singaporean team established in 2021 and has made minimal appearances in Tier 1 tournaments. They have performed well in qualifiers at the ESL One Birmingham 2024, giving them a window to reach new heights this season. It is still expected that they will remain an underdog in Dota 2 team betting.
| Coach | Rasmus ‘Misery’ Berth Filipsen |
| Position 1 | Souliya ‘JaCkky’ Khoomphetsavong |
| Position 2 | Rafli ‘Mikoto’ Fathur Rahman |

Top 3 ranking teams in North America (NA)
North America stands as a crucible where top-tier Dota 2 teams clash, showcasing not only exceptional skill but also a rich tapestry of narratives that define the region's unique esports journey. Here are three of NA’s powerhouse teams:
Nouns
Nouns was founded in 2022 and is a relatively small organisation based in the United States. They didn't win many tournaments last year but they remained consistently within the top positions among Tier 2 tournaments. It was enough to earn an invitation to TI 2023 and they placed 7th-8th. They may be underdogs globally but they’re the top teams in NA.
| Coach | Tal ‘Fly’ Aizik |
| Position 1 | Yuma ‘Yuma’ Langlet |
| Position 2 |
|
| Position 3 | Nicolas ‘Gunnar’ Lopez |
| Position 4 | Rodrigo ‘Lelis’ Santos |
| Position 5 | Tal ‘Fly’ Aizik |
Shopify Rebellion
Shopify Rebellion is a Canada-based esports team established in 2022. As an organisation, they are bigger than Nouns but they haven’t performed as well in 2023. Nevertheless, they are a top-performing pro team with favourable odds in many Tier 2 tournament matches in Dota 2 betting.
| Coach | Kanishka ‘BuLba’ Sosale |
| Position 1 | Artour ‘Arteezy’ Babaev |
| Position 2 | Erin ‘Yopaj-’ Jasper Ferrer |
| Position 3 | Jonáš ‘SabeRLight-’ Volek |
| Position 4 | Thiago ‘Thiolicor’ Cordeiro |
| Position 5 | Kartik ‘Kitrak’ Rathi |
Unfortunately for Dota 2 North America, there are no other notable teams to represent them for 2024 EPT. TSM was one of their biggest organisations since they were established in 2009 but they excited the American Dota 2 competitive scene on 5th December 2023. Team Dogchamp is the next big team in the NA Dota 2 team rankings but they disbanded in 2023.
Amateur team Wildcard Gaming shows the most promise to step up as the third top game in NA except they show no intention of joining the 2024 tournaments. The roster appears to be just waiting for their contracts to expire this season.
Who are the best ranking teams in Dota 2?
At the moment, the most promising teams in 2024 are those coming from China, West Europe, and the CIS. There are also small chances for teams from SEA & Oceania to join the TI, making them the exciting underdogs of the ESL Pro Tour season 2.
Right now, the most promising teams are Team Spirit, Azure Ray, and Gaimin Gladiators with BetBoom and Team Secret being potential black horses. This is an exciting lineup of ESL championship tournaments in the coming months. Make your predictions and cast your bets at Gamdom.
