Hiko explains his stance on CSGO and Valorant
100 Thieves star Spencer ‘Hiko’ Martin said that it is so much easier to be a Valorant pro than to play in CSGO. The star said there was no hassle in playing the Riot Games shooter since it has a much better fanbase and has a lot of adventure in its games too.
When Valorant first came out, there was a rise in the number of CSGO players moving on to play the Riot Games shooter. There was not much to expect from it at first but then a lot of CSGO players made the switch since then.
Hiko was one of the many players who found new hope in Valorant. He left a huge CSGO career behind and was able to start off fresh with Riot’s shooter. Since then, the 100 Thieves has seen mixed results with him. He worked along with many great stars and the team went on to win both First Strike NA and Stage 2 Challengers 1.
The 100 Thieves star said that it felt easier for him to play in Valo than his time being a CSGO pro. Perhaps he had some free CSGO skins back then but it was not enough to keep him in the game for so long.
‘CS got to a point where you’re literally traveling seven or eight months of the year. When I was younger, in 2013, we were traveling a lot’, the star said. ‘We were traveling to Europe, bootcamping in Europe all the time’.
Hiko said that there is not much travel spent in Valorant. He’s at home most of the time and the big LAN games have been more important than the ones in CSGO. He says it was less of a tax on players who have families and other priorities to attend to.
While Valorant does not have surprises like free CSGO skins, it was the smooth flow that ensured the game’s success. It was great for a lot of the players in the game.
Hiko and the 100 Thieves will get back to play on August 11 as they aim to get a shot at the VCT Stage 3 Masters Berlin. The star hopes to earn his first LAN win in the game.
