Why ADR is an important aspect of playing CSGO
CSGO is one of the most popular games in the tactical shooter genre. It involves playing with four players which means that individual statistics stick out. The best measurement of a player’s impact on the game is their average damage per round or ADR.
Most people look at the Kill Death Assist ratio of one player as it is evident in the game itself but that can mislead a lot of people. If you want to see a big impact, you have to look at a player’s ADR. Take a look at someone like Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut who has a staggering 89.7 ADR.
This is largely due to his ability with the AWP but that means that he keeps hitting his shots. If he keeps up this pace, it will be hard to stop Team Vitality which is the pro team that ZywOo plays for.
Similarly, Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev from Natus Vincere is a similar player but he does transition from the rifles to the AWP from time to time. He has 86.1 ADR which is a hard stat to get especially with the dual threat that s1mple poses as a hybrid between an AWPer and a rifler.
How you can improve your ADR
When it comes to your own gameplay, there are a lot of tips that you can get from the pro players. Try and watch some of their highlights and why they keep getting frags from their moves. But first, you need to work on yourself before you play like a pro.
Aim training is an important part of CSGO which you can do by downloading some aim maps in the game. You can also play against bots which is a good simulation for the real competitive games. Fundamentals are important so you have to know what the spray patterns are for the rifles that you use, mainly the AK-47 and the two M4 rifles.
If you are a player who prefers the AWP, that will be a little bit harder to practice because this relies on your reflexes. There are still some downloadable maps in the game that can help you learn to be a better sniper. Make sure to use those resources because CSGO is a fun game especially if you know that you are getting good at it.
You also have to monitor yourself because if you see yourself improving, you should try it out by going into a ranked match. Make sure that you are in the right mindset because there are some people who let their frustration get the best of them leaving them in a bad mood while playing.
Watch the pros
In CSGO, the pro players are always the benchmark. If you can just emulate what this player is doing, you will have a better chance of winning. The aforementioned s1mple and ZywOo are great choices as they have great talent that you can try to emulate. You can also look for players who play a simple style and can be emulated well.
Back in the day, Adam ‘friberg’ Friberg was the perfect example of this but since he has fallen off from his star days for Ninjas in Pyjamas, his moves might be too outdated. However, there are times when you can use his ideals like positioning and patience to frag your opponents.
You can also listen to the communication that a team like Astralis has. Of course, they speak in Danish but there are some videos out there that detail how well this team plays their CSGO. They are efficient with their calls and they know how to communicate well with simple phrases and lingo.
Pro matches are not the only ones that you should watch because most pro players love to stream their public matches. You can see how they play their matches and you can try to emulate them as well. This is more friendly to you because they are also playing with four random people which you will have to get used to. You might even get to join a giveaway from these streamers who will give some free CSGO skins.
Watch your replays
In CSGO, there is a handy tool that helps you look back at your matches and how you played. This will help you look at your matches and your positives and negatives in the gameplay. You can dissect them and learn what you need to do in the future and how an opponent plays as well.
Make sure that you use this because CSGO is a hard game to master but sinking a little bit more time will actually help you become a better player. Remember that CSGO is not just a game for your aim, but it is also your reaction speed and the way you think while in the game. If you keep a clear mind and look back at your mistakes, you will identify them and find the right fix.
Have fun
Just like all other games, you need to remember that this is still a game that you can have fun with. Try to queue with your friends on CSGO because having a team environment compared to a random stack with four other players is tiring.
Do not get caught up in your games because you will always have the chance to redeem yourself. All you have to do is remember to do what you need to do in the matches based on your past mistakes.
Keeping your emotions in check is important as well as having a calm demeanor. If you look at the most successful pro players, they rarely show emotion until they win because they are laser-focused on the game.
CSGO is one of the most fun games that you will ever play with its mechanics and simple framework. Just make sure you take note of your ADR and improve on your gaps and you will have the best CSGO experience.
