Looking at the League of Legends tourneys
League of Legends has seen a lot of success over the years and has proved to be a big pick among many players in the world. The hype for most of its tourneys made it sure that the game stays as a huge part of the esports industry even with the pandemic still far from over.
LoL’s success as a premier game for many players is seen as a huge reason the title is still a relevant one for many strategy players. Since it shares the same type and genre with Dota 2, the game has been in a stalemate with the Valve 5v5 game so far.
Still, LoL is a big game for many. While the same teams from Dota 2 and other esports such as CSGO and StarCraft 2 have their own squads in the game, every tourney played in LoL has been a huge win for most of them.
Aside from the Mid-Season Invitational and the World Championship, LoL has many other tourneys which serve as a ticket to the latter two contests. This is why there is still a huge chance for every other team to win big in the competition and make the most of their chance.
League of Legends Champions Korea
LCK is the top tourney that the game has in South Korea. Ten teams are set to join in this one as the league runs for two big seasons in a year. This is a direct shot to the annual WC, and this one is a partnership between Riot Games and KeSPA.
The league was known as the LoL Champions before the game came up with more leagues that led to the title change and format too. Since 2014, the LCK has been a huge part of the game and has led to the stop of both Challengers Korea and the LCK promotion tourney.
LCK is seen as one of the best leagues in the world. From 2013 to 2017, all teams that have won the WC hailed from the LCK, making the league a lead force in the game. 2018 marked the first year where a team from LCK did not lift the title.
This tourney offers a shot for most Korean teams in the game and has a lot of hot battles over the years. It is safe to say that the teams here have been training hard to stay at the top.
League Championship Series
The LCS is LoL’s league in the United States and Canada. This is run by Riot Games as well and has ten teams in the contest. Each season is set into two splits with the spring and summer. Every run ends with a double battle between the top eight teams.
At the end of each season, the winner, runners-up and third-place team for the summer run will move on to play in the WC as well. The intense games between teams hailing from Canada and the United States have been a good watch over the years. There is no way to say that the LoL has a need for something like free CSGO skins to keep their fans and players happy.
Aside from other touring events, all the games of the LCS are played live in Riot Games’ studios in Los Angeles, California. Along with a small studio audience, most of these games are also streamed live on both Twitch and YouTube. These streams tend to get as many as 300,000 viewers.
Due to the huge success of the LCS, it has earned well from big companies such as Acer, Coca-Cola and even American Express. This is why the league is such a popular game in North America.
League of Legends European Championship
The LEC is not far from the first two leagues. It works the same way with two splits in the spring and summer and has nine weeks of round-robin play. The games end with play-off games between the top six teams of the league.
At the end of the season, the top teams are given a chance to enter the WC. Due to the high number of teams playing to get a spot in the LEC, it is seen as the top level of League of Legends in Europe as a whole.
All games of the LEC are played in Riot Games’ studio in Adlershof in Berlin, Germany. The huge success of the LEC has led to more attention from the media as well. September 2016 saw the French Senate adopt the version of the Numeric Law that worked the visa process for most LEC players and other esports players.
This move gave a legal frame to esports deals and gave a sure payment for cash prizes. France Esports has also been a home to preserve the games played in Europe. It has been a huge boost for the LEC as it earned funds from Kia, Red Bull, and Erste Group as well.

League of Legends Pro League
The LPL is China’s version of the various leagues in other regions. Founded in the 2013 spring season, the LPL has grown so much into a top pick among the other three leagues in LoL. Aside from the fact that the LPL has a smaller team pool compared to the others, it also featured a lot of huge teams which are seen as the best in the pro scene.
While there are no freebies in LoL much like the free CSGO skins, LoL has found a way to keep most of their fans thanks to LPL’s games. The playoffs are set for eight teams in a best of five series each. There is a prize pool of around ¥2,350,000, which makes the games more fun to watch.
LoL has proved its place in esports for a long time, and this is the reason why there are a lot of players and fans who still love the game over the years. LoL will continue to thrive with the help of its massive esports scene.
