Why Rocket League's Esports Scene Needs More Attention

Rocket League is a game that has gone under the radar for far too long. The game itself and its esports scene deserve more attention from the mainstream. It is one of the most exciting games that has a simple premise to understand.

Essentially, Rocket League is just football but the players are remote controlled cars. That is one of the most simple yet unique premises for a game ever and it has great gameplay to boot. There are some highlight plays that are made which capture people’s attention due to how awesome it looks.

While it may be seen as a kid’s game, it actually takes a lot of skill to play. Most players use the controllers to play it because the mouse and keyboard are not as precise as the movement that you see with analog sticks.

The MMR and ranking system is solid and all but there are some Rocket League events that are held to determine who the best RL team is in the world. At the moment, the best team in the world is Team BDS with players like Marc ‘MaRc_By_8’ Domingo, Evan ‘M0nkey M00n’ Rogez, and Alex ‘Extra’ Paoli.

The esports scene

The biggest event in RL is definitely the Rocket League Championship Series or RLCS. It was created back in 2016 and it has had 10 seasons so far. There are many great players and teams that have emerged from these events including the likes of Victor ‘Fairy Peak!’ Locquet and Kyle ‘Scrub Killa’ Robertson who play for Team Vitality and Team Singularity respectively.

The level of play in the RLCS is extremely high and it gives one of the most fun viewing experiences that you can get in esports. It is surprising to learn that RL is still not a mainstream esports game because it deserves more attention.

It is arguably the easiest game to understand when it comes to esports because it is basically a football game with vehicles as the players. That is the premise but the possibilities that it gives to the game are endless. Since the game is played inside a dome, there are possibilities where cars can use the dome as an additional floor and bounce off from that to reach the ball.

RL is an insane game and it continues to be one of the most compelling sports titles in the world. People usually play FIFA or NBA 2K for their sports fix, but most people have said that RL is the best choice if you want to play something akin to the real sports. It still has the unrealistic factors that you typically see in video games and not just the simulation games that you have with the aforementioned titles.

Just like any other esports game, RL is a game that you can bet on. CSGO has its free CSGO skins betting but with RL, there are a lot of sites that offer traditional betting on RL matches.

Tips on how to bet on RL

With any esports game or sport, research is the first action that you need to take when you decide to bet. There are many great teams and players in the RLCS but there are some factors that you need to consider before you bet.

There are the matchups that you take into account because this is not a simple game that you throw a careless bet on. Make sure that you know who is playing and how those players match up with their counterparts. Take for example, if Scrub Killa and Singularity is playing against BDS, you might favour the latter. However, there is history where Singularity has won over BDS which means that you should favour Scrub Killa’s squad.

Matchups are important but you also have to look into roster moves because any esports game is filled with it. This means that you should also take a look at some players’ ability in the game because there are many possibilities that can fundamentally change the entire scene if a certain player moves to a team.

You should also listen to the analysts that cover the RLCS as they are the people who know most about the game and they watch the pros play every day. You can even learn terms that are used in the RLCS which you might not know if you are a casual viewer of the game’s events.

Make sure that you are updated about the current landscape of the RLCS scene because there may be some changes in the game. If there are players who are playing at a top level, you can expect to be a winner in your bets. This is unlike the free CSGO skins betting that you might have made in the past because that is a harder game to bet on.

Why RL needs more attention

As a game that was launched back in 2015, RL has a storied past already. Many know that RL offers a fun experience but most people throw it aside as a unique game. However, there is more to the game than just the unique premise.

This game is an innovative take on a popular sport. There are people who will have trouble when it comes to playing the game, but they can still appreciate the impact that this can make. There have been clones of RL on mobile but you can see that it is still a game that is wholly different from others that you usually see and play.

It is a game that will always be fun no matter what happens. Psyonix is committed to improving the game and with some links to popular entities like the WWE and the NFL, Rocket League will remain as a fixture of the video game industry.

Hopefully, it can continue to gain ground as a landmark game as it will be an influential title for years to come. Its esports model is also one to follow because of its commitment to high level competition.
