Beginners guide to Arena World Championship 2023 betting

Most titles that become esports were always designed to be played competitively. Such examples include League of Legends, Overwatch 2, and Dota 2. Unconventional but not impossible and World of Warcraft has a successful esports scene celebrated by fans.

The Arena World Championship is one of two esports coming from World of Warcraft. It was inspired by the introduction of Arena that came with the Burning Crusade expansion in 2007. It didn’t take time until players got used to the PvP mode and it became a new competitive game hosted by the developers themselves, Blizzard Entertainment.

You can now watch professional matches for up to three seasons per year on YouTube and Twitch while betting on their matches or outrights at Gamdom.

Rules of a Arena World Championship match

The Arena game mode has three modes namely 1v1, 3v3, and 5v5 but the esport league, Arena World Championship, focuses on the 2nd mode. Its rules are straightforward, allowing new players and spectators to quickly understand the objectives of a match. Two teams of three meet in an enclosed arena decorated with the theme of the new season. January 2023, for example, features the Dragonflight update.

World of Warcraft betting revolves around who would win the game. The winner is whoever successfully eliminates all three players of the opposing team. Every game day between two teams is usually a best of five (Bo5) and the team moving up is whoever wins the majority. Therefore, a single match can give you 3 to 5 map bets per one match winner bet.

Team compositions

Guessing who wins in a match is easy if you know how to compare matchups. Unlike other esports like Dota 2 and League of Legends, there is no hero selection in World of Warcraft esport. Every team has up to six members bringing their original characters whom they dedicated a lot of time building.

Every character belongs to one out of 12 unique classes. Each one can be identified as either a healer or damage dealer. The most common lineup in 3v3 is two damage dealers and one healer but the nuances can be determined by the matchup between opposing classes. Warcraft betting is still difficult even if you know class matchups because every player designed their character and some of them have an unorthodox build.

Arena World Championship flow

WoW betting begins alongside all the events of the Arena World Championship. Season 1 of 2023 begins in January 2023 with four AWC Cups. Europe and Americas each get to host two with open invitations for all interested parties.

Players signed up in each cup participate for points then compete for first place within their respective divisions. Top placers of each division then fight for rankings amongst each other. The top three teams will compete for the finals while the bottom 4 to 8 go to the AWP Gauntlet.

Arena World Championship season structure

Blizzard Entertainment laid out a simple tournament plan for the Arena World Championship. Simplicity makes it easy to follow the action and stay invested in the outcome of the match. Here is an overview of the whole tournament on what you can expect to see as a spectator:

Two divisions of AWC

Arena World Championship is a regional tournament for two divisions namely the North American (NA) and European (EU). The former includes teams coming primarily from the United States and Canada but Mexican players also appear frequently. European division, on the other hand, involves all EU members. Many teams consist of a mixed culture.

The NA and EU divisions are separate from qualifiers to the finals. Blizzard Entertainment introduced an experimental cross-region tournament in 2022 but there is no clarification if this will be a regular event. Thus, there will be more opportunities to win in World of Warcraft esports crypto betting because more games mean more bets.

AWC Cup 1 through 4

Cups 1, 2, 3, and 4 are the qualifying stage with an open invitation. Every match from opening day to finals is Bo5 and the tournament follows a double-bracket elimination setup. The winners bracket ends at rounds of 4 while the losers bracket ends at rounds of 6 with two winners from both sides. These remaining four teams compete in the final bracket.

The first game goes to the two teams from the winners bracket where the victor goes to the finals. Teams from the losers bracket then compete for who gets to play against the loser of the winners bracket and whoever wins competes for the finals. The last game for the top 1 and 2 spots of the cup is a Bo7 and the first to win 4 rounds is the victor.

AWC Grand Finals

The AWC is the main event and you don’t want to miss its markets at Gamdom, the best World of Warcraft betting site. Just like the four cups, this tournament follows a double-bracket elimination where the majority of the matches are Bo5 while the finals is a Bo7.

The main difference is that its participants only include the four winners of each cup, limiting its number of participants to four per season. Winners from the semi-finals play against each other at the Winners’ Finals while the losers play between each other. Whoever wins gets to play against the loser in the Winners’ finals for a final chance to become the new title holders.

AWC Gauntlet

The 4th to 8th placed teams in each division are seeded into a single-bracket elimination game. Similar to the other tournaments, this gives every matcha Bo5 setup until the finals which has Bo7. It will be a lot quicker as an event compared to the Cups and Grand Finals, giving you more games to bet on at a WoW betting site.
