As Valve’s flagship tactical first-person shooter, Counter-Strike 2 continues to shape the FPS, following the legacy of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. With major gameplay updates and a fresh competitive scene, CS2 now hosts esports events that are well worth of your attention, especially if you're interested in betting!
The transition from CS:GO to CS2 has good results, as the esports landscape has accepted the game. CS2 was released in late 2023 and has redefined the first-person shooter genre in esports. At the same time, CS2 has changed the game, improving on an older title like CS:GO, which was still fun but needed a revamp.
Here are the changes from the move to CS2:

Now that CS2 is firmly established as the gold standard in the FPS genre, 2025 is shaping up to be an unforgettable year for the esports scene. The competition is fiercer than ever, with sharpened skills, new rosters, and a global stage packed with top-tier talent.
Here are the best CS2 events you can look forward to this year:
One of the first big events of the year, IEM Melbourne is currently ongoing since April 21, and will continue until April 21 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. The country rarely hosts such large-scale events, but its passionate Oceania player base ensures an exciting competition. This event is part of the ESL Grand Slam and has a US$300,000 prize pool.
With 16 teams participating in the event, it is one to look forward to, especially with massive teams like Team Vitality, Team Liquid, and FaZe Clan all vying for the win. The format has two groups in a double-elimination bracket stage.
Whoever wins the lower bracket final advances. The two teams that play in the upper bracket also advance to the knockout stage. Six teams in total get into the knockout stage, where they play a single-elimination bracket to determine the winner.
Another Tier 1 event on the Valve Tier, PGL Astana will be held in the Barys Arena in Kazakhstan from May 10 to 18. This event has 16 teams playing for a shot at winning a big cut of the US$625,000 prize pool.
The group stage has a 16-team Swiss System format, and only the top eight teams proceed to the Playoffs. The Playoffs system is a single-elimination bracket with plenty of best-of-three matches. Finally, the Grand Final stage is a best-of-five to determine the event’s winner.
This event is jam-packed with the best teams in the world, like Team Spirit, G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Astralis, and more. The winner takes home US$200,000 from the prize pool, and the second-placed team gets less than half of what the champion will get.
Set in Austin, Texas, the BLAST.tv Austin Major is a prestigious Valve Major event, running from June 2 to June 22 at the Moody Center. With a massive US$1,250,000 prize pool, the winner will take home US$500,000.
The organisation is known for creating top-tier events like BLAST Rivals and BLAST Open, but this upcoming event in Austin is the most significant one. This has been given the Valve Major status, the biggest achievement a team can win in CS2. BLAST.tv is well known for organising top-tier events, which makes for a significant event for teams and players.
This is a 32-team event, which means there are three stages before the Playoffs even start. Here is a good summary of the format:
The Esports World Cup 2025 will take place at Boulevard Riyadh City from August 20 to 24, organized by the EWC Foundation and ESL FACEIT Group. This top-tier event features 16 teams competing for a share of the US$1,250,000 prize pool, with the winner receiving US$500,000.
PGL Belgrade 2025 will be hosted at the Belgrade Arena in Serbia from October 25 to November 2. With a US$625,000 prize pool, 16 teams will battle for the US$200,000 top prize.
The group stage has a 16-team Swiss System format, and all matches are best-of-three series. The top eight teams proceed to the Playoffs, while the other eight are eliminated. They advance to a single-elimination bracket with the matches played in a best-of-three series. The only exception to this is the Grand Final, which is a best-of-five.

The CS2 meta continues to evolve, and the battle for supremacy across events is as intense as ever. The game has levelled the playing field with the many updates, but certain teams have taken to the challenge and stood out. From the most seasoned teams and rising contenders, here are the top teams to look forward to in 2025:
One of the most consistent teams in the CS2 era, Team Vitality continues to lead the charge in 2025. With a top player like Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut leading the way, Vitality relies on precision, tactical depth, and smart decisions.
Expect them to compete for plenty of trophies as they have the aggressiveness people expect from a top team. They can out-frag almost every team, making them such a tough team to play against. Vitality was once a weaker team on the Counter-Terrorist side, but has improved and is stronger with their tactics.
Seen as an unpredictable side, Team Spirit always pulls off some surprises and can adapt to any situation they go through. As a team that won the Shanghai Major in 2024, Team Spirit knows how to succeed at the highest level, and they want to keep strengthening themselves to be at the top.
With Sergey ‘hally’ Shavayev as their head coach, they have a brilliant mind leading them and creating their strategies. The rest of the team benefits from it, especially with stars like Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets and Dmitriy ‘sh1ro’ Sokolov.
G2 Esports has a rich history across esports, making them a strong team in CS2. This roster is always competitive at the top of the CS2 scene, as they have talented players who thrive when playing good tactics.
With Ilya ‘m0NESY’ Osipov leading the charge as the superstar player, expect G2 to compete for trophies. They have former CS:GO Major winner Wiktor ‘TaZ’ Wojtas as their head coach, who is an influential figure because of his winning pedigree that can inspire the players.
Besides the teams, you must also be more aware of the top players who have taken over the CS2 scene and are considered the best in the field.
Here are some of them:
Known for his aggression, expect b1t to always charge the opponent to get kills even on the CT side. Despite his aggression, he always finds ways to be one of the surviving players, meaning his clutch play is also quite solid.
ZywOo always finds ways to pull off an outrageous frag with the AWP or a quick flick headshot using a rifle. He is a versatile player who will always find ways to be a star in the big moments.
